Pomegranate - Our Star Fruit

Lebanese cuisine has a diversity of meals that contain pomegranate in various forms. Whether we are talking about the fruit in the natural form or about its juice, the pomegranate has a special place in the Oriental cuisine. In our restaurant, the pomegranate is definitely a star because we use it generously in a lot of meals. We sprinkle pomegranate grains over baba-ghanuj, moutabal, fatush and the pomegranate juice is used in ras-asfur, macanek, livers, olive salad, muhammara and even in the chicken or beef rolls. We also combine its juice with our lemonade and the result is amazing: an aromatic and refreshing drink, perfect for summer days, but not only.

We like this wonderful fruit not only because it is tasty and gives our meals a special flavor and texture, but also because the pomegranate has some nutritive qualities that place it in the category of the perfect food for human body. To convince you of the advantages of consuming pomegranate in its natural form and in different delicious dishes, we have selected some of the benefits of this fruit.

It boosts the immune system. The pomegranate has an important stock of minerals (iodine, iron, potassium, silicon, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, sodium, manganese, copper, sulfur, chromium, aluminum, lithium and nickel), vitamins (A, C, B1, B2, B6, B12, E and P) and amino acids. All of these have a significant role in the proper functioning of the immune system and eating this fruit is recommended in case of colds or even during recovery after a surgery.

It prevents aging. It has been shown that the pomegranate has a beneficial effect for the skin, slowing the aging process, because of the great amount of antioxidants it contains – more than the red wine, blueberries or green tea. Thus, pomegranate is one of the most used fruits in the anti-wrinkle creams.

It protects the heart. Pomegranate contains a number of important substances for our organism, such as iron. It has an essential role in producing red blood cells that help to combat anemia. Also, pomegranate juice reduces the risk of heart attack and prevents the atherosclerosis (the buildup of fat in arteries), which improves blood flow. Studies have shown that pomegranate juice helps to reduce the blood pressure with 5%, so it is beneficial for those who suffer from hypertension.

It improves the digestion. Pomegranate juice helps in proper functioning of the bowel and improves digestion. It is a good remedy to induce appetite. At the same time, the fruit is the perfect choice for those who want to lose weight because it doesn’t have cholesterol or saturated fats.

It helps to fix skin problems. The beneficial substances of pomegranate help to improve the skin elasticity by stimulating collagen production and also to depigment the spots caused by sunburn. In general, pomegranate gives you a brighter skin and is often used in facial masks. It also helps to regenerate skin cells with the ability to speed up the healing process.

The pomegranate is more than your daily energy source. It contains a lot of minerals, vitamins and amino acids, which makes it "the fruit of life". It is the ideal choice for cold days of winter, when our immunity is challenged and, also, for summer days when you need something fresh. We wait for you in our restaurant, where you can try a wide range of delicious dishes with pomegranate.
